Admission is going to $7 –up from $4 — and the price of an annual pass is doubling, to $30, announced the National Park Service.
The money is intended to fund repairs to the Stark’s Brigade Monument, maintenance of the Wick Orchard, and upgrades to museum exhibits.
“The additional revenue raised by the fee increase is going to help make some significant improvements to valuable resources that will enhance the visitor experience,” Park Supt. Thomas E. Ross said in a statement.
Entrance remains free to youths under age 16, and to holders of the America the Beautiful National Parks and Federal Recreational Senior, Access or Military passes. No fees are charged for the Jockey Hollow, Fort Nonsense, and New Jersey Brigade areas of the park.
The Ford Mansion is where Gen. George Washington and his officers billeted during the hard winter of 1779-80.
