Authorities are seeking the public’s help in solving a suspicious fire that severely damaged the historic Pitney Farm in Mendham Township in February. Here’s more, from the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office:
LAW ENFORCEMENT SEEKING INFORMATION REGARDING PITNEY FARM FIRE
The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office and Mendham Township Police Department are seeking information from the public regarding an ongoing fire investigation. On Tuesday Feb. 24, 2016, at approximately 2 a.m., the historic Pitney Farm, located at 1 Cold Hill Road, Mendham Township was severely damaged by a fire.
The structure was vacant at the time of the fire. The investigation of the fire remains active and ongoing. The investigation is being conducted by the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office – Arson/Environmental Crimes Unit, the Mendham Township Police Department, and the Morris County Sheriff’s Office – Criminal Investigation Section.
At this time, this fire has been determined to be caused by a human act, and is being investigated as an act of arson.
Law enforcement is seeking information from anyone having knowledge of this fire, and/or the circumstances surrounding it.
